Use of the frame
The vehicle chassis is the platform that rests on the axles by means of springs and supports the body. In the past, it was made of wood or a mixed structure of wood and iron. Nowadays it is made of iron, steel or light alloy. In this way, more robustness is achieved, increasing the weight and cost of the vehicle by very little.
The frame is rectangular in shape and consists of two side members or stringers, two end cross members or headers and intermediate cross members.
St. Andrew's cross diagonal beams make the structure crushproof.
Connected to the chassis are the suspension, traction and repulsion organs and the braking organs.
